Program Preparation
WARNING: This page has not been updated since the Wide Field Upgrade and is no longer maintained.
The HET is a queue scheduled telescope and thus all observations must
be submitted in a way that is readable by our scheduler: htopx.
The proposal process is broken into two phases.
-
In Phase I the
primary investigator (PI) will deal directly with their institution's
telescope allocation committee (TAC). Each TAC may have different
requirements for a successful proposal. We will provide information
that will help you build your proposal with realistic expectations.
-
In Phase II the
PI will be submitting their targets to the HET if
the TAC has granted them time. We will provide information so that
the PI should not have to interact with the resident astronomers (RA)
although the RA are always there to answer your questions. Please
go through all of the provided steps to make sure that your targets
are viable to your scheduler and telescope.
