General Description:

The following procedure initializes the Primary Mirror Control system for primary mirror segment manipulation, and monitoring of dome and truss temperatures.

Initial Conditions

A) Jove should be powered up and a lockout screen displayed.

1.0 Log on to Jove.
1.1Log on as guider.
1.2 Enter the password and wait for the blue background to appear on all three monitors.

2.0 Where user interfaces should be displayed on Jove. All numbering is from left to right so that monitor number 1 is the left most monitor, and virtual screen one is the left most screen on a monitor.
2.1 Smoke-PMC = monitor 1, screen 1.
2.2 SAMS Labview and GUI = monitor 1, screen 2.
2.3 Alice-cameras = monitor 2, screen 1.
2.4 WX GUI’s = monitor 3.
2.5 MARS GUI and Baffle xterm = monitor 3.

3.0 Initiate a session with smoke.
3.1 Using the right mouse button, click on the blue background; a menu will appear.
3.2 Move the cursor to the ‘smoke’ button and release the mouse button.
3.3 Wait for a smoke prompt to appear before proceeding.

4.0 Initialize the Primary Mirror Control System and the Primary Mirror User interfaces.
4.1 At the smoke prompt type ‘startwork’ in small case.
4.2 After a brief period of time two interfaces will appear. The “primary user interface’ is used to monitor the truss and dome interior air temperatures. The ‘primary mirror control system interface’ is used for control of the primary mirror segments.
4.3 This concludes the PMC (jove) system startup.
