GLYCOL STARTUP

 

 

General Description:

Start the Glycol System.  This system provides coolant to the tracker components for the purpose of temperature control.

 

Initial Conditions:

A)     The glycol system has been visually inspected.

B)      The glycol controller in the breaker room is at STOP.

 

1.0     Power up the glycol system.

1.1     The glycol controller is located to the immediate right as the breaker room is entered.

1.2     Press the ‘RUN’ button.  The LCD display should read ‘Frequency Ref, U1-01=58.00HZ’.

 

2.0     Check the system state.

2.1     After the pump has reached full speed the flow rate should be around 8.0 gallons per minute.  This rate can either be checked with the coolant flow meter on the equipment rack in the control room or with the mechanical gauge located in the glycol pump enclosure.

 

3.0     Inspect the interior of the dome for any obvious glycol leaks.

 

Fault conditions and Solutions:

A)     EM3, which means an emergency stop has been made, is displayed on the LCD display.

1)       Clear the emergency condition and restore the pushed emergency stop button into the up position.

2)       Press the reset button on the glycol control box.

B)      EM5, which means a power failure has occurred, is displayed on the LCD display.

1)       Press the reset button on the control box.

2)       Verify that the button is in local mode (remote ready light in upper right corner is not on).

3)       Repeat step 2.1.

 

Method for System Shutdown:

A)      Go to the glycol control box and push the red stop button.  Once the button is pushed the red diode light in the stop button will come on and the red diode light in the run button will start blinking.

Visually confirm that the coolant flow meter has a flow rate of zero.  Also a red diode light next

to the coolant flow meter should be on
