Procedure for Blue Sky PV Images

  • Turn on the PV camera and restart the PAS server
  • Point structure and dome to north (Azimuth: 0)
  • Set tracker to center preset position
  • Make sure SAMS is on and making corrections
  • Open dome shutter, Louvers should be left closed
  • Retract ACAM mirror if deployed, then deploy PV/CWFS mirror, set CWFS/PV position to PV
  • Change the filter to 'Blue' and uncheck the "Store Images" box on PV camera (So that images are not saving while the exposure time is being figured out)
  • Start Pipeline and images on PV camera
  • Adjust exposure time till the "Blue" PV image flux for the mirror segments is approximately 190 counts
  • Turn PV pipeline off, leave start images on and run command '~/justen/pvtwilightOnSph' in a terminal on jove
  • Watch "Blue" images as they come out to see what the flux is, if the flux drops below 150 or hits 255 adjust exposure while tracker is moving to the next position

NOTE: If any image has flux of 255(over-exposed) or is below 150(under-exposed), another set will need to be taken

  • When the terminal prompts "Done" then it's finished taking the PV images. IF there's no need to redo the images, turn off the PV camera and send an email to mirror@… and CC Justen saying that the images are done

If you do need to redo the PV images and there is not enough time to attempt another set then shutdown the PV and send an e-mail to mirror@… and cc to@… saying there was a problem and that PV should be attempted tomorrow.

The whole process should take about 13-15 minutes, if there are no under or over-exposed images.

On sphere locations for HS PV test

  • mountTest -F
  • h for help
  • q to quit
  • Enter in a # between 1 - 97 to go to different points on sphere
