Getting Started

.) Open up the OPS checklist found on the TO Launcher under the Firefox tab. This tab reveals a drop down menu and you will want to select "Checklist"

.) Read the previous night RA/TO Engineering Report posted in the "McDonald Observatory Hobby-Eberly Telescope TO Report" online. If you do not have the password, obtain it either from Stephan Cook, Jim Fowler or one of the TO's.

.) Check your email to ensure that any problems reported that night have been addressed and to check if any changes have been made during the day that you will need to know about.

.) Wait for Day Staff to review with you any new information or changes that have been made. This usually occurs between 4:30pm - 04:45pm CDT and any information passed onto you should be noted and passed on to the incoming TO. The comment section of the OPS checklist is the best place to record this information.

.) Be aware of any personnel whom may still be working on equipment and inform them that you are about to begin "Ops".

.) Check the SWAG and AHU numbers and note the numbers in the OPS checklist along with your name and the Day Ops name.

.) Head out to the Krabbenhut for the next part of OPS. (See Figure below for location of the Krabben Hut).
